Tang Feng-chen brings a special gift to Wang Shuan-han

Beipu Elementary School student Wang Xuanhan has a bone disease that prevents him from being able to hold a pen in his hand. He can only use his mouth to write. His parents contacted Free Universe Education Foundation Chairman Tang Feng-chen who found a special pen in Japan, the U wing pen, that can enable Wang to write whatever he wants. Tang, who is confined to a wheelchair, brought this special pen to Wang yesterday.

In February, our report My Little Revolution introduced Free Universe Education Foundation Chairman Tang Feng-chen and his promotion of Universal Design, which helps remove barriers for the physically challenged. Wang Hsuan-han’s aunt Wang Hua-rong saw the report and contacted Tang. He wrote a letter to Japan’s Tripod Design who, with the support of the company’s head Nakagawa Satoshi, sent the U-wing pen to Wang Hsuan-han.
Wang has already used this special pen to take his final exams and he scored second in his class. The ink has already been used up, so Tang has contacted Tripod Design’s factory to produce a refill.
 
Tang has polio and uses a wheelchair. He came on the train and brought the pen refill personally to Wang, who was very happy to start using the pen again.
 
Seeing the glow in Wang’s eyes, Tang said “We started something and we need to finish it. We’ve helped little Wang and we hope that his future is bright, and that he can help others in the future.”
